If you’d told me ten years ago that one day I’d be running my own roofing company, with my wife and three kids cheering me on, I probably would’ve laughed. Back then, the future was something I tried not to think about too much. It was hard enough just getting through the day.
My early twenties were dark. I battled addiction, lost my footing, and ended up on the streets. There were nights when the only thing colder than the pavement was the sense that I’d let everyone down—myself included. But rock bottom has a way of teaching you things you can’t learn anywhere else. For me, it taught gratitude for the smallest scraps of hope.
Everything changed in 2014, the year I was baptized. But the road out of darkness wasn’t a straight line. Not long after, I slipped back into addiction and landed in a jail cell—a rock-bottom moment I’ll never forget. After I detoxed, I traded my commissary for a Bible and opened it right up to the book of Proverbs. Those words were a stepping stone, the first real anchor of faith I’d had in years. Little by little, things started falling into place.
In 2016, I met my wife in a recovery class. We’d both grown up in the same small town—one of those places where news travels faster than the school bell—but our paths had never crossed as kids. There we were, years later, carrying our scars into a room full of strangers, hoping for a fresh start. We recognized something in each other: a shared history, a stubborn hope, and the sense that maybe we could actually beat this thing together.
But I have to be honest—I didn’t take recovery seriously until 2017, when my eldest daughter was born. People say kids change everything, and for me, it wasn’t just a saying—it was a wake-up call. Becoming a father gave me a reason to fight for my life, to finally commit to recovery, and to believe that things could be different.
My wife and I were just starting out as a couple, building our relationship from the ground up as we walked through recovery together. She stood by me through the hardest days, and soon, our family began to grow. There were definitely tough times—so tough that our church family was paying for our groceries. But even in those moments, I could feel God guiding us, reminding me that every detour had a purpose.
After Hurricane Florence, while we were living in North Carolina, I stumbled into the roofing industry almost by accident. A man named Jesus offered me a job, and another named Christian took me under his wing. Maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe it was a sign that God has a sense of humor—but those two men became mentors, showing me the ropes and helping me build a new kind of confidence.
In 2019, my boss Jesus saw something in me I hadn’t always seen in myself. He invited us to move to Texas and offered me a shot at being a regional manager. It wasn’t just a job—it was an apprenticeship in leadership, business, and faith. Jesus made it clear from the start: he was training me not just for today, but for the day I’d branch out on my own.
That day finally arrived in 2020. The world was reeling, but for my wife and me, a quiet sense of purpose started to take shape. As we sat and dreamed about what our new company would be, one name kept coming up: Superb. It wasn’t just a catchy business name—it was a legacy. My wife grew up listening to stories of her father, the original Superb Contracting, serving the community with honesty and skill, and leaving behind a reputation that survived long after he was gone. Naming our company Superb Roofing and Restoration wasn’t just a tribute; it was a way to carry forward a piece of her dad, a living reminder that God connects the dots in ways only He can see.
For me, opening Superb Roofing and Restoration was a declaration of how far I’d come. Each shingle, each job, each handshake is a continuous reminder that redemption is possible, and that God’s grace shows up in the most unexpected places. In that moment, everything felt full circle—the struggles, the setbacks, the blessings—all leading to this new chapter.
Now, years into recovery, I’m a different man. I’m a father of three, a husband of nine years, and a business owner who knows what it means to have nothing—and to build something from scratch. With Superb Roofing and Restoration, my family and I strive every day to be honest, reliable, and truly committed to quality. We’re proud to be family-owned and veteran-operated, and every customer is treated like a neighbor, not a number. Every step of my journey, even the ones that seemed hopeless at the time, led me here. And if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that God never stopped writing my story—even during the chapters I thought were the end.
These days, life is brighter than I ever imagined back in those darkest moments. Since opening Superb Roofing and Restoration, we’ve faced every challenge small business owners know—long nights, tight margins, and plenty of growing pains. But through it all, we’ve built something bigger than just a company. We have an incredible team that makes it all possible.
Our Residential Roofing Director is a retired veteran, a man of deep integrity, with a wife and three kids of his own—he’s also the pastor at our church, someone who leads with both faith and grit. Our Commercial Project Director is a new father of twins who grew up in the construction industry and brings a lifetime of experience, incredible detail, and steady hands to every job. Our marketing team is creative and tireless, always finding new ways to share our story and reach our neighbors. Our CFO keeps us grounded and growing, with a sharp mind for business and a heart for people. As the owner, I stay fully involved in every job to ensure top quality and professionalism and to help our team in every way I can. My hands-on approach lets me pay attention to every detail, so our work always meets the highest standards and expectations of our clients. And behind the scenes of it all is my wife, who runs our office with the same care and dedication that she brings to our family.
We’re not just building roofs—we’re building a business that reflects the grace and second chances we’ve been given. We’ve created a place where people are more than their job titles, and every customer is treated like family. Looking back, I see how every twist and turn prepared us for this—how every lost night, every prayer, and every small act of kindness paved the way to where we stand today.
Our story isn’t just about survival—it’s about hope, community, and the belief that with faith, hard work, and the right people by your side, you can build something truly superb.
